💡 When Walking Meets Philosophy
How a Walk & Talk and Auckland Stoics crossover turned an experiment into a meaningful community moment
Yesterday, two threads of my life crossed in a way that felt quietly significant.
One was Walk & Talk, a project I started in Dunedin as a simple idea: walk together and let conversation emerge naturally.
The other was Auckland Stoics, a community centred on reflection, discipline, and the practice of living well.
We decided to experiment. A joint walk from St Heliers to Mission Bay. A defined topic, which Walk & Talk had never done before. A walking format, which was new for the Stoics.
What followed was unexpectedly smooth. Movement lowered barriers. Philosophy gained texture. Conversations felt grounded rather than abstract. The format created space not only for speaking, but for listening and thinking.
It was a reminder that good communities are not built by rigid rules, but by thoughtful experimentation and trust in people.
If you are in Auckland and looking for spaces that combine connection, reflection, and presence, I can wholeheartedly recommend both.
P.S. The photo only captures part of the group. In reality, the number of participants was even larger.
There will be more collaborations like this.
